Meet Radu Costache, Senior Program Manager at Merkle DACH – Year 1 Geneva EMBA

What do you think is your best quality as a leader?
My ability to motivate and align teams around a clear vision. I excel at organizing tasks and ensuring that team members understand their roles, which helps us collectively achieve our objectives efficiently. I am highly solution-oriented, and like to focus on practical, scalable solutions to complex problems.

What do you consider your greatest professional achievement so far?
Establishing a global CRM and Digital Marketing department across multiple regions. This required scalable solutions, developing high-performing teams and fostering cross-functional collaboration. I created clear governance structures to ensure alignment across regions, improved communication between stakeholders, and developed training programmes to drive adoption and build expertise.

Which skill do you most hope to develop during your EMBA programme?
I aim to enhance my ability to build high-performing, collaborative teams. I see an opportunity to refine my coaching and mentoring skills to empower others to take ownership and grow in their roles. Developing a deeper focus on empathetic leadership and fostering a culture of trust and collaboration will enable me to amplify the collective success of my teams.

Which values guide you while taking responsibilities, and why?
Integrity, adaptability, and a commitment to collaboration.

What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your career?
The importance of balancing vision with execution. While having a clear long-term strategy is crucial, success often lies in breaking that vision into achievable, incremental milestones. Collaboration and thoughtful execution make even the most ambitious goals attainable.

What motivates you to succeed, even in the face of challenges?
The desire to continually grow and make a meaningful impact.

How do you envision your career evolving after completing the EMBA course?
Taking on a senior leadership role such as a Director or VP in operations or technology, where I can shape organizational strategy and drive transformation initiatives. I also aspire to mentor emerging leaders.

What trait do you most admire in colleagues and peers from your class?
Our shared drive for continuous self-improvement. Beyond learning from esteemed professors, we gain invaluable insights from each other’s diverse experiences and perspectives. This collective curiosity and commitment to growth is a trait I deeply respect and find inspiring in my peers.
