Alumni EMBA UNIGE Association – Focus on the MBA Awards Chapter

Recognising academic excellence and encouraging innovation are at the heart of the MBA Awards Chapter of the EMBA UNIGE Alumni Association. Each year, the chapter identifies and rewards the best MBA projects, highlighting their creativity, quality and practical relevance.

A chapter driven by experienced alumni
Led by Hakan Ekinci (EMBA 2012), the chapter brings together eight alumni from different graduating classes. Drawing on their diverse professional backgrounds, they form a jury responsible for evaluating outstanding MBA theses and selecting the most deserving projects.

Recognising excellence through a rigorous evaluation process
Each year, MBA theses that have achieved a minimum academic grade of 5.5 are eligible for consideration.
The jury reviews each project individually and confidentially, based on four equally weighted criteria:
– Innovation and originality: creativity and unique contribution.
– Feasibility: practical and financial viability.
– Coherence: clarity, structure and consistency.
– Universality and applicability: potential for use in other industries or contexts.

The three highest-ranked projects are selected, with the top-scoring thesis receiving the MBA Award during the annual EMBA UNIGE Graduation Ceremony, presented by the sponsor.

Sharing experience and supporting students
Beyond recognising excellence, the chapter supports current EMBA participants through dedicated sessions offering practical guidance on research methodology, thesis structure, teamwork and best practices. These exchanges strengthen connections between students and alumni, encouraging knowledge sharing and supporting the next generation of business leaders. Through its activities, the MBA Awards Chapter reflects the Alumni Association’s commitment to excellence, collaboration and the practical application of knowledge.
