Alumni EMBA UNIGE Association – Focus on the Coaches Self-Leadership Chapter

Among the seven chapters of the EMBA UNIGE Alumni Association, the Coaches Self-Leadership chapter stands out for its strong sense of community, its energy, and its deep commitment to human development.

After completing an EMBA at the University of Geneva, selected alumni are invited to become Self-Leadership module coaches, supporting the next generation of EMBA participants through a unique learning journey centered on introspection, responsible leadership, and collective intelligence. Alumni join this chapter for a minimum period of two years as part of a structured on-the-job training program.

Coaches meet six to eight times per year to deepen their understanding of coaching techniques, explore self-development theories, and exchange best practices. Upon completion of the two-year program, new Self-Leadership coaches receive a certificate of attendance equivalent to 3 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits, recognizing their commitment and learning.

The chapter’s mission is built around three core activities:
– I
ntroducing new content to strengthen the understanding of the Self-Leadership module,
Preparing and refining the practical aspects of coach-to-student sessions,
Debriefing past experiences to generate shared learning and continuous improvement.

Beyond training, community life plays a central role. Each session is followed by a convivial dinner near the University of Geneva, and the academic year concludes with a mountain retreat weekend combining seminars, creative activities, and moments of connection. From non-violent communication workshops to paintball, dance improvisation, or cheese fondue, each year brings a new and inspiring experience—imagination truly has no boundaries.

Self-Leadership is exceptional by design. In addition to the academic rigor required for professional advancement and responsible leadership, the module mobilizes collective intelligence and the power of self-reflection. The constructive feedback received throughout the journey creates long-lasting impacts across all areas of life, regardless of specialization—marketing, finance, operations, or beyond. It is a deeply felt experience that fosters awareness, integrity of purpose, social capital, and sustainability.

The Coaches Self-Leadership chapter warmly invites alumni to share their Self-Leadership experience, even years after graduation, and to get in touch if they are interested in exploring coaching within a supportive group of like-minded professionals passionate about human development.

Mission with pleasure,
Self-Leadership Coaches, Chapter Head: Ash Ganzoury
